  1. I just became unemployed – it scares me to death as I’m my only means of support in one of the most expensive states to live in. It scares me even more that there are so many others in the same situation and we’ll all be competing for the few jobs that do become available. I’m not looking too far to the future now for at the moment I just want to work and not become homeless. I’d love to be able to work for a company until retirement like it used to be but I’ve come to learn that there is no such thing as security anymore. That’s what I want to see in the future, job security again.

  2. I’m not unemployed, but we are downsizing and it worries me. I was told that my schooling was budget in the budget for next year, so I’m hoping that if there is a layoff, I will not be one let go. I’m worried how they are going to do it. By senority or skills or what. If they go by senority, I’m third from the top. I worry about my current field. Majority of the jobs are contract. I make good money and the jobs that have been coming across to me are like ten dollars less than what I make.

  3. This is such a scary time. I am sitting here waiting to hear if my son-in-law (father of my only grandchild) gets laid off today. I am helping my daughter and son-in-law with a plan B. We are researching ways they might be able to become business owners themselves. Even in this economy, there are franchises out there that are more resistant to the economic woes than others. If any of you would like to look into a possible plan B, I would be happy to help.

  4. One advantage we have over the past is that we’re not limited to newspaper classified for job searches anymore. The are many online job search sites available for job searches as well as for posting resumes where potential employers might find them.

Best of luck to everyone in their searches for new positions.
